Weeks ago, I posted the video of "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" video. I know I'm slightly passed the time of all the hype of this, but better late than never.

Time to make the Latinos shine as the Spanish or Latin American version of "We Are the World", called "Somos El Mundo" is shared here in my official space...Some familiar faces of this generation that I know of are Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Thalia, Taboo of Black Eyed Peas and of course, my fave David Archuleta...Their version was simple yet more appealing to sing with because each singer sang the song as it was before, except for the rap stuff in between.

I think there is no reason for me to compare the two versions...I have my personal opinion / comparison but I'll just keep that in mind...What's important is their intentions for the remakes of this song...And I just hope their intentions were noticed and given the due attention and action...

Enjoy and Reflect...After all, "we are the ones who make a brighter day so let's start giving"...

There are so many things going on lately in our planet...

earthquake in Haiti...
too much rainfall and snowfall in Europe and US...
the latest 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile...

and the El Nino phenomenon devastating the food industry here in the Philippines...

It's true that this is Mother Earth's payback to all our carelessness...But this is also an opportunity for the nations to lend a helping hand to each other and unite...

I can say that I'm lucky to have been a part of the generation of artists that collaborated to make each one realize the essence of loving your fellowmen and showing concern once again...It was first done for Africa during the 80's and now, for Haiti...Here is "We Are the World" [the 2010 version]...

Let's not wait for a 3rd version of this to really learn from our mistakes and to turn from our evil ways...It's got to be now...

V-day

After Christmas nd New Year, another occasion comes along - an occasion when roses and chocolates become a prime commodity; when restos and movie houses become fully booked; and when it's all sweet talk - Valentines Day.

Each year is a unique celebration for me -- regardless if that year I'm single or in a relationship. But this year, it's even more unique, because I'll just be at home on this day. Since it fell on a Sunday and Chinese New Year, surely, most of the peeps will be outdoors. And because of this, might as well stay at home cause I don't want to harass myself with the thought of how to reserve seats in a resto or how to walk freely in malls. Another thing, some of my friends or close colleagues start to be in a relationship one after the other. Obviously, they would go out as couples and I wouldn't want to end up the 3rd wheel or the one they'll just ask out of pity cause I'm still single. Well, being single isn't something that shouldn't be pitied at.

There are is something that I just find odd: the way some people celebrate this day. Some treat V-day like Christmas -- expecting or giving gifts nd partying, or wallow nd loathe this day. To each his own, true enough. But this day shouldn't be treated as a day to be on the materialistic side. Let's all be reminded that St. Valentine is the patron saint of love and not of a significant other. Therefore, it's a day to celebrate love not a lover. Regardless if we are in the sweetness high or hurting or healing mode, it's the feeling and acting love towards other people [family, friends, loved ones, countrymen or God] that we commemorate.

So whether you are married, in a relationship, divorced, it's complicated or single, thank the Lord for the feeling of love given to us -- which is the reason that keeps us going. And never stop sharing and giving love to make this world a better place.

a mother's love...

I'm used to keeping it to myself, but only when I got older that I believe I'm closer to my mom. Mothers will always be the emotional pillar of the family members. No wonder that many would agree with me, when children got something in mind, they approach their mothers more than their fathers. Plus, it's always been proven that a mother's love is unconditional -- like Jesus and Mother Mary. But to what extent that does a mother's love have to be revealed to their children?

Days ago, it's all in the news that a certain person named Jason Ivler was being arrested for a double murder case said to be committed out of traffic issues. He was being searched for months already but nowhere to be found. His mother, Marlene Aguilar [sister of famous singer - Freddie Aguilar], kept insisting that his son is not with her. But just days ago, it was found out that her son was just hiding in her house in Blue Ridge Subdivision. And instead of cooperating with the police authorities, her son kept fighting by shooting the NBI officials. And at present, she kept saying she believes her son is innocent of the crimes accused to Jason Ivler.

True enough, anybody is considered innocent until proven guilty by law or proper judgment. But c'mon, loving someone doesn't mean that his mistakes have to be tolerated in a way. In love or relationships, we should accept and embrace a person's imperfections. But, there is also such a thing as rules and regulations we abide as citizens. We are responsible to those. As human beings as well, we have to deal with our neighbors properly and respect. Not by hurting or killing them. The fact that Jason killed not once "but twice" [in the mala-Susan Roces angry tone...haha], he has to suffer the consequence of his actions. I completely understand it hurts that her son will soon separate from her in the prison cell, but imagine the two families who lost a loved one, they can never hug their dead loved ones in the grave anymore.

To the moms out there, I understand your sentiments. I've never been a mom yet so this shouldn't come from me. Sincerely, I appreciate your love for your children, no questions about it. But if you really love your children, you have to give them wings to fly. Giving them the wings to fly would mean making them realize that doing good would reap them blessings and doing mistakes or crimes would result to consequences they have to learn. In loving, we really have to get hurt.

In short, do love your children, don't spoil them. Why? When the mothers die, what will happen to them next if the children depend so much on you?...

Despite the controversies, it's finally back...

Going thru auditions will never be easy...It could even be made worse by scrutiny of famous judges and being watched by the entire world...

Now that Simon Cowell will soon leave the show as well, will the audiences still patronize the show that gave rise to the new batch of famous singers...

Who will go thru the tests and succeed next in line to last year's Kris Allen???

not that bad...but not the best...

Finally, after months of just telling myself I will watch a movie, I did. Along with my friend Abie, we watched "New Moon" no matter what...

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of Stephanie Mayer or anything to do with vampires, but I read the "Twilight" series, I just got the hang of it. It was a fad in our office a year ago and now it was finally interpreted in the big screen.

No wonder, the publicity and exposures of Robert Pattinson [who plays Edward] and Kristin Stewart [who plays Bella] brought huge clamor for the public to get too curious to watch the movie. Adding up a new character, Jacob Black [played by Taylor Lautner], brought a little spice to the plot. I would say "New Moon" is better than the first one, "Twilight". Forgive me, but I was really pissed with the first one cause of it's poor cinematography and interpretation. Watching the first 5 minutes and I really wanted to go home, but I just don't want to make my money flush down the drain...Sad to say, it did...

As always, don't expect too much for movies based on book adaptations because you'll end up with disappointments. C'mon guys, it's just common sense that books can't be turned into movies in every nitty gritty detail or we'll all end up in movie houses for days. I would suggest that treat it as if you've never read the book or if you really can't help it, don't watch it.

Overall, it's better but not the best that I've watched...I would say that is the last movie I have watched in the big screen for 20-0-9...More to watch, but that will be next year already...Holidays are just eating my "me" time...

Pinoys on the rise...

For two weeks now, the Philippines has been getting reasons to rise above the ruins and celebrate...

Another world record for the country in the field of sports, as Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao won his 7th world division title against Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico. 12 rounds of hard hitting boxing amused the world and despite getting body pains, the Pound-per-Pound King gave his all for the pride and honor of our country.
Just today, in New York, a simple educator from the streets of Manila won the CNN Hero of the Year for 2009. Efren Penaflorida, together with some volunteers formed Dynamic Teen Company, has been making education accessible by teaching kids and bringing books / educational materials via pushcart. With his sheer acts of kindness and love for the country, his efforts were paid off that now some of his students are joining him to teach other street children. And of course, he was nominated and won CNN Hero of the Year 2009. Besides the cash prize of US $100,000, he brought honor and hope to this country that with hard work and patriotism, the Philippines can still be a better place to live in.

To these two, CONGRATULATIONS AND WE SALUTE YOU!!!

To all of us, CHEERS AND MAY THEIR ACTS AND LOVE FOR COUNTRY BE AN INSPIRATION TO MAKE A CHANGE FOR A BETTER PHILIPPINES!!!

a basic need that shouldn't be wasted...

Days ago, it was all in the news that UN [United Nations] mentioned that there are around 1 billion people all over the world who are suffering from hunger. It is neither a joke nor an announcement to the public just to inform...

I'm sure we are aware of our surroundings that there are beggars in the streets, financially challenged people who struggle everyday to survive. It's just that we ignore or we don't seem to care. Yes, me and my family work for a living but not just for food alone...I admit, there are times I ignore this issue because I don't feel what's it like to work so hard not for buying luxuries or material things but just to eat. And that is the effect to the rest of us who are financially capable [if not really filthy rich], we tend to be complacent and not thinking of other people but ourselves.

What makes this issue of hunger worse are the people who don't care and at the same time, who don't eat wisely or properly. I admit again, I used to buy food before in big servings or get food filling up the plate in parties and end up not finishing them up. But years ago, when I had a heartache that caused me to eat one meal a day only [yes, you read it "one meal" only] for months, that became the turning point for me to learn the value of food. When I got back to my normal eating routine [breakfast-snack-lunch-snack-dinner], it isn't just about filling up my stomach but realizing that I have to give my best not to waste whatever food is placed on my plate. Having food trips with family or friends as past time, I feel bad when I so much leftovers going on with the plates/food packages in restos or fastfood chains. It's not because I wanna eat them all up but because I know there are a lot of people getting really hungry everyday --- hungry because they can't afford to buy even a piece of bread. Those leftovers couldn't have been leftovers but rather have ended up being shared to the rest of the world. And the hungry wouldn't end up eating leftovers but rather healthy and fresh meals. Plus, it isn't easy to keep going and working if a person skips a meal. Been there, felt that -- I used to skip meals during my high school and college days just to finish an assignment or project and I ended up being acidic and diagnosed with gastritis [which I have in me for life...].

Actually, there are ways how to end up with less leftovers of food...They may not bring out big results but collaborated little efforts per person could contribute soon with the hunger situation the world is going through at the moment...Let me share just a few of those...

1. Plan what you want to eat -- There are those who make abrupt decisions on what to eat. The result: They can't finish up the food or they are forced to finish it until they end up with the vomit feeling.

** Before falling in line to order or before calling a waiter to take the order, plan first what meal you can finish up then decide which is your crave to eat. In short, don't order by impulse.

2. Eat in groups -- This is if you'll be eating out with friends. Instead of ordering individual meals / plates, order a "to-share" or a meal good for how many persons. You don't just lessen the chances of leftovers but you also spend less. Just make sure to ask first the resto's meals if they're good for how many persons.

3. Take out what's left -- Ok, I know some wouldn't appreciate this tip, but really, this might help. Of course, this will be based on your judgment. Take note of two considerations: if there was so much left on the plates and if they wouldn't spoil easily even if you take them home.

** If you're in a resto, you can ask the waiter to have the food wrapped for take out while asking for your bill to pay. If you're in a fast food chain, simply ask for a plastic or container at the counter.

NOTE: Do this if you're with your family and friends or if you're with someone comfortable. Of course, don't do it on special functions or events you're attending.

4. Know your eating ritual or habit -- In this way, you would know how much you should eat per meal. Honestly, this was one of the things I did that changed a few of my eating rituals. I'm not saying this for you guys to be on diet. I'm NOT ON A DIET =)

** Try to observe how much you eat per meal for a week. If you end up having leftovers often for that entire week, try to lessen your servings week after week. If writing it down would help, then do so.

NOTE: Again, this is not to make you guys stop eating but to lessen leftovers, meaning you will end up finishing up your food without ending up vomiting.

5. Learn to say "NO" -- As simple as it is...

If somebody offers you food even if you're full, don't hesitate to say NO...It's more shameful if you end up biting from a big piece of bread or only consuming a spoonful from an entire plate, just because you don't want the one who offered to feel bad...We can say some negative things in an honest yet positive tone, if we would want to.

Well, my intention of posting this is not for you guys to feel bad or pity while eating. The purpose is to make each one of us realize that hunger isn't a petty problem. It increases each year. Let's not wait for the future generations to experience this at its worst. I'm sure each government all over the world is putting its best efforts to minimize this, but in our little ways we should realize and work as one than just aware-then-ignore. For now, we only have one world, so let's utilize our need -- FOOD -- properly.

Some say that November is considered a lonely month because here in the Philippines, November 1 and 2 are days when we visit the cemeteries and pay respects to our dead loved ones. But, who says it isn't a month to celebrate and have fun as well?...For the inner teenage that I still have even if I'm twenty-ish [haha...got that from a commercial], let me give reasons to celebrate:

1. birthday overloads...

High School friends: Doc Gemma, Nurse Shengky [who's got a new bf now...woot], Events Organizer Michelle
Former Officemates/Friends: O.C Abie [Ate Abie...hehe], Eastwood City Godfather Sir Rhoel [haha...necessary title daw yan]

New Friendship-Fellow David Archie Fan: Larissa [i prefer to call her..."the lucky one"...haha *kidding*]

-- we wouldn't be updated and Archie-loving some more if it wasn't for the updates from the peeps here ^_^

3. Ninang [Godmother] to be again
-- 5 all in all..but will be turning 6 godchildren cause my cousin's son will add up to my list...

-- she's engaged to her long distant German boyfriend...congrats Kristal =)

Months away from now and it'll be 2010. Next year will be a significant year for our country as we make a change by going through the 2010 Presidential Elections. I got a text message from a person close to me saying that he is finally a registered voter for next year's elections. He's excited to be able to exercise his right to vote and contribute to the country's history.

Sincerely, I'm happy for him because he really loves the Philippines. He is a very patriotic individual in words and actions. I seriously admire him even more for that. Congratulations...you are one true proud Pinoy. Kudos to you =)

I may not be very vocal about my thoughts on politics as I always say, but I'm excited to vote one more time and make my voice count for this country. I've been a registered voter years ago and it's gonna be my 3rd time to vote next year. But, whatever happens soon and whoever is placed in the highest position in the land, I will never tire of voting and making 1 vote bring a change to this nation.

So for those who aren't registered yet [who should be...], c'mon guys, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED. DON'T WASTE TIME...REGISTER NOW at the nearest Comelec office in your area...It's only until Oct. 31, 2009 =)

my simple Christmas wish list 2009 ^_^

I wasn't excited about Christmas weeks ago due to the worries I used to have, but now, it's starting to look a little bit like Christmas. And just for some motivation for me to awesomely work hard, here is my simple wish list [simple because I'm just gonna start working this Monday...haha^_^]...

1. The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
Well, it's all in the bookstores so reading this newest Dan Brown novel is one of my what-to-do's to cap off my 2009...

2. The Elements of Freedom by Alicia Keys
Superwoman A Keys, herself, is releasing her 4th album before the year ends and I've always been a fan of her music in the R&B genre. It's about time I buy her album and start collecting her CD's =) [ok tweeps, David Archuleta will always be on the top of my list^_^]

3. A Charles and Keith shoe or bag
Just to start investing on some good quality shoes and bags for my soon-to-be corporate attire. Don't worry, I'll take it one at a time...Not all the time, alrighty???

4. Team Manila shirt or the Bench 7107 shirt
I officially consider 20-0-9 as Philippine Year for me...haha...A lot of Pinoys making a name in the field of fashion, films, music, sports and humanity - as we united as one nation in helping one another in the recent calamities we had...Proud to be Pinay through words, actions, thoughts and wearing Pinay pride [with a statement shirt that is] =)
5. Lomo camera
I don't know...Consider me a late bloomer, but I'm trying new things one at a time...Themed pictures or photography in general fascinates me...But since I'm not an expert in this new kinda stuff, I guess I have to start with the basics -- A Lomo Camera!!! ^_^

Basically, I got one of my items on the wish list [I just felt like not including anymore, cause I got it anyway...haha...weird] --- Christmas from the Heart by David Archuleta...It started there...Well, being able to have anyone in this list will already be an icing on my cake...I'm not that materialistic anyways to splurge on all of them at the same time...

Besides, these are just material stuff...Essentially, I wish for strength, unity and faith for the Philippines and its people...For whatever challenges each one of us are going through, I wish that we maybe optimistic and realize the ways for us to start all over again and be better. I wish a happy Christmas, that people will celebrate the season bonded by love for one another and for God, above all...

Haha...just a little amped up for blogging again...THANK GOODNESS!!! ^_^

If there was one of the few things that I enjoyed during my bumming month, it was having a new crave again. This time it's froyo [frozen yogurt]. For as long as there is a yogurt that can be mixed with toppings of your choice, I'm in for it. Well, seriously, I'm a Red Mango craving being now...haha

Besides my sweet tooth craving, the past calamities made me appreciate and love my country, the Philippines, all the more. I know it shouldn't just be through words but more on actions. But, can I just say that through fashion too? I've been eyeing to start collecting bracelets or accessories that spell good causes. I've been wishing I could buy the "Invisible Children" bracelet, but for now, Philippines first. It isn't just an album for the super loyal and loving David Archie fans but for everyone who would love to play a Christmas song or two to feel the spirit of the coming season. From the generic songs of every artist for a Christmas album [like Joy to the World, O Come All Ye Faithful, etc] to Christmas songs in a different language [Pat-a-pan and Riu Riu Chiu], I'm sure there will be one of the 13 tracks that you would love to play over and over again. Personally, my super favorite is his version of "Ave Maria". Everytime I hear this on his album, it reminds me of my chorale days when we used to sing different versions of "Ave Maria" in church. This song is actually one of the few that give me goosebumps. I must say, David Archuleta's version drew me into tears of joy and goosebumps on the CRITICAL LEVEL...hehe...For those who have been exposed and learned a few about music, David Archuleta draws a connection to the listeners to feel the Christmas spirit minus melancholy. It's not a sad album. And once again, his vocal skills -- his tenor prowess -- proves him to be one of amazing young singers we have in this generation.How I wish I could see and hear him on his Christmas tour in the US next month, but I'm completely aware that my financial capacity ain't enough to make me get there. Just hearing his voice now and the way he interprets every song, I'm deeply moved and deeply satisfied.
And now, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas right??? ^_^

Sometimes, when one feels sooo down and sooo empty, that's when something strange happens...A strange yet good thing happens, unexpectedly...

Finally, my weeks of being a home buddy and crazy pessimism are soon to be over...

What I feel right now is gratitude, happiness and excitement...

This 1 month of depression, anxiety and self-pity will just be a thing of the past...

Grateful that I learned a lot from this period of my life...In this day and age, it isn't easy to find a job. Moreover, it isn't easy to be jobless (except if you are more financially capable and blessed). Humility is accepting that you have got true strengths and weaknesses all mixed up in your life. Nobody is perfect and nobody is higher than the Creator. But, we are given the capacities that set us apart from everybody else.

When I was at the lowest point of my emotions and every time tears shed from my eyes, I took refuge of the Supreme Being and suddenly I feel better...

Now I got my answered prayer...Sometimes, the answer is simply within your reach...We just either let it pass or we don't seem to notice...

Now, the tears are simply tears of joy -- joy of going through a new beginning, a better beginning...

I almost forgot...It's October already...I've not been that excited posting blogs lately, but since I'm all mixed up, time for some random-slash-all-mixed-up talking...

FAMILY -- It was my mom's birthday last Oct 2 and of course, it was time for some family bonding...That day was a stormy one caused by typhoon "Pepeng" but it didn't stop us to head on to Atrium at SM Megamall...

SPORTS -- Got 5 words...Congrats Ateneo!!! One Big Fight!!! --- They are back-to-back champions of the UAAP...Well, it is a certainly Blue Year ^_^

COUCH POTATO that's ME -- Lately, I'm hooked with 3 tv shows --> Gossip Girl, Glee and Amazing Race 15 -- At least, there are a few that can cover up my missing mode for the meantime for American Idol^_^

ANYTHING BAD NEWS -- After the 2 storms that hit our country, we are currently experiencing power interruptions for 4-6 hours due to transformers that were burnt. Sad to say, it's gonna be till Monday, Oct.12 (not good!!!)

HEARTBREAKING NEWS -- The post about the supposed to be Zero Gravity part 2 here in Manila is not going to happen anymore...So guys, forget it...This just in, David Archuleta will not be proceeding here in Manila because he's not gonna be available on Nov. 14...**heartbreak-_-'** But on a positive note, the Benefit Concert will still push through and what's important is that those who were affected by the calamities will be sufficed. Kudos and hats off still to MTV Philippines...But of course, to us David Archie fans, it's still a HEARTACHE =(

MORE PERSONAL HEARTBREAKING NEWS -- I'm still bumming here at home...I hope my applications will prosper already in days time...My time is running out...As what KC Concepcion said in "Lovers in Paris", "Wish ko lang magkatrabaho na ako!!!"...And I mean that^_^

It started with a tweet courtesy of partyphile and tv personality, Tim Yap. Finally, it is confirmed.

MTV Philippines is organizing a benefit concert in lieu of the supposed to be Katy Perry concert this Saturday, Oct. 3. The benefit concert is for the victims of typhoon Ondoy here in the Philippines. As for this event, Katy Perry is still for confirmation but the very big good news is that David Archuleta --- let's highlight this again --- David Archuleta!!! --- will be coming over to Manila to join the concert!!!

It's a super EXCITING feeling for me that he'll be coming back but it's kinda sad too because he's gonna come back for a not so good situation that's going on here in our country. Despite that, it's still a grateful feeling that he is more on acting than just mere talking of his sentiments to the latest calamity that hit the Philippines. He shall be coming here to the country for a good cause. Thumbs up David!!!

I'm definitely EXCITED *fainting* and at ZERO GRAVITY that he's coming back...I don't care if it's gonna be a standing open field...and it's ok if I don't get to see him at the VIP area [cause I cant afford at the moment], as long as I get to see him and I'll be watching for a good reason, I am satisfied with that =)

No major details yet or final updates...so I'll keep u guys posted...

Hope my Asian friends would be able to come and see the concert...

Sorry to disturb you guys at the moment, I know this isn't a good timing but then again, there's a deadline that's why I need a little helping hand...

I submitted an audition video for HPSpace -- a reality contest in Singapore...I won't elaborate it further...

It's sunny now here in my place...But some places are still in rehabilitation...

As of today, Sept 29, 2009, a lot of organizations are still accepting donations and packing relief goods for the rest of our fellow Filipinos who are still in evacuation centers and flooded. The flooded areas have already subsided...and what's left...

ruined houses, houses and hard-earned owned materials with mud...

Just gonna leave here a few short messages about this...Honestly, I may not be deeply affected but I am saddened cause this was not an expected fate for our country...

1. To those who wanna help, try to check websites like abs-cbn.com and gmanews.tv for the list of organizations you could participate in to send donations or volunteer. You could also check superbianca.blogspot.com [blog site of Ms. Bianca Gonzales -- tv host personality] and @Magic899 [twitter of Magic 89.9 -- radio station here in Manila] for other list of groups. Twitter is also a great avenue right now to raise your concerns regarding info on ways to help.

2. Speaking of Twitter, I've read a few who are spreading tweets on how to help and sharing their sentiment...Of course our fellow Pinoy celebrities and to the ff: Demi Moore, Shontelle and Demi Lovato (cause these were the few I've seen...I'm sure there are more international artists tweeting about it)...Thank you =)

3. To those who were hit badly by the aftermath, I know I may not be one of those who could alleviate the pain but I'll keep you guys in my prayers that the country will be able to survive and continue to live one day at a time...

4. To my officemates, friends and loved ones, I hope you are all doing well now...I'm sure this incident isn't a good one and it's painful to see that you're hard-earned stuff are just washed away, but keep in mind that everything happens for a reason and in losing, we realize the bare essentials in life.

Back from the ruins...

Yesterday, Sept 25, 2009 was another tragic event that made the country united in efforts and in prayers...Typhoon "Ondoy" hit Luzon, went away now and obviously, left sooo many traces -- flooded areas, destroyed houses, homeless and evacuated people and deaths.

After the storm, I'm thankful that me and my family are intact. We just ended up having no electricity for one day and a few hours. As I went to church this afternoon, it made me even more thankful and blessed that our family was ok. Despite that, the pain is sinking in to me at the moment because the rest of the country -- those who were hit hard by the storm -- are still in the process of being saved.

Our country may have been left with bad traces, but this made us see that Filipinos can always come together and unite for their fellowmen. A lot are volunteering to rescue and donating material needs for those who badly need at the moment.

I won't prolong this further...I still feel that even if I'm ok now, I don't deserve to splurge so much at the moment...If you would like to help in the least possible way you can, you can check on these two websites how:

It's been a week already since I bummed out from work...Thankful that I get to have good night sleeps for the past few days and catch up on some of the things I missed [watching tv and reading books]...But of course, I can't be like this forever...I still have to do something relevant to keep up with the personal finances and my family's needs.

Anyway, I don't know but I think God is really making little miracles for me not to give up...I came across this website that I've always wanted to submit an article on and then, I saw this post...Guys, read this until the end for you to completely understand...The writer and I have a few similarities on this story, but that's not exactly the point...Here it is...

Soon I will be leaving the company that has been my home for two years and nine months. The idea of leaving has been giving me nightmares, but I know this is what I really want.

When I first joined the company, I was an idealistic neophyte who believed that as long as I was doing my job, no problems would arise. I was happy with the company, and it became a second home for me. I gained friends and even won their respect and loyalty. I developed feelings for someone who turned out to be a womanizer (the feeling lasted for only one month), and now he is my ka tropa. I fell seriously for an IT guy with a wide forehead (who just got promoted recently), and now we are kind of “MU” (mutual understanding) after two years of waiting. And I was able to save enough money for some of my future plans.

Months passed. New people were hired, and trained. Some old co-workers got promoted and some left for reasons I could not comprehend at first.

Then it suddenly dawned on me that something was wrong with the situation. There were nice people who got promoted and began sprouting horns on their heads. There were others who were already bad even before they were hired and they were spreading discontent and havoc.I saw a couple of my fellow workers crying because a monster of a manager had screamed at them. Even as tears continued to flow from their swollen eyes, they were still checking documents and searching for errors, no matter how hard it was to focus on the computer screen.

I saw my pregnant friend crying because a satanic manager was cursing her online. Another friend was humiliated by a moody manager when she filed for a leave of absence.

I reacted violently when the company decided to increase our salaries based on our rating system. A nice manager had given a neophyte a grade of 4+ (even if he was still committing a lot of errors) while another manager gave an experienced worker a grade of 2 (even though she was one of the best employees). The neophyte received a P1,700 salary increase and the latter got a P300 increase. Was that fair?

I learned that when somebody got promoted, it meant he had stepped on someone else, like crabs in a basket. I also learned that an employee is only an employee, and no matter how long he has been in the company and how hard he has been working, he still remains just an employee—without a voice, without the right to talk or to question things, and with the duty to follow and act dumb.

I am not saying this because I feel bitter. Bitter over what? Because I have never been promoted even if I have put all my energies into my work? Because I sacrificed time for my family so I could render overtime work in compliance with orders of my superiors? When my mom died in a hospital, I didn’t know about it until my shift was over because we were not allowed to bring cell phones into the work area.

It is every worker’s dream to be promoted because it means receiving a salary higher as well as some perks and privileges. But in this company, I cannot even dream of being promoted because that won’t change anything. Instead it will give the people above you another excuse to bully you.

I know that I am sounding like a spoiled brat, sulking over things I cannot have. But sometimes you need to act like a brat so that you will get what you really want. And now all I want is a work place that will be a true second home for me.

So, I had this plan of leaving, and a plan to find a replacement. Then I told my boss that I was quitting.

Two of the best managers of our department talked to me and told me they were happy with my decision. They understood and they knew how I felt. They seemed actually to share my relief as I was telling them about my decision.

Friends are asking me what made me quit. I tell them there is life after work, and that I need my life back. I need to slow down and assess my life and feel free for a while. And my only regret is that I didn’t do it earlier. I’m not running from the things that make me apply excessive eye liner and eye shadow to express my anger, I just want to clear my mind and know who I really am.

Now I realize that working hard is not enough to make one happy on the job. Some things aren’t good as what we want to be. I know that by leaving, I can learn things other than what I know now. I am not dumb, and I don’t want to be forever following black witches’ orders.

I used to be a kind, soft-spoken girl with an understanding heart, but now I am completely the opposite. I came to the point of looking at life as if it’s a curse. I don’t want myself to continue hating life.

I want the old me but I want to bring with me the things I learned. This place has made me strong. It taught me to be thankful for living a simple life, simple yet happy. It also made me realize that I miss my family and friends.

My father told me that I should look for a new job where I can be happy and which will not take me far from them. He reminded me that they had taught me and my siblings to believe that simplicity spells happiness. Who am I to disagree?

When I go, I will be leaving behind the people who have been nice to me. But this is a small world and I know we will bump into each other again and again. And there is Facebook and Friendster to help us stay in touch. As for the IT guy, he will still be there, texting me every night.

Alright, I'm not in the writing hype to post on a lot of stuff...But since there are already readers / viewers here on my blogsite *THANKS SO MUCH* =), I just want to share David Archuleta's performance in the recent ALMA Awards [award giving body honoring Latin American achievers]. The title of the song is "Contigo En La Distancia" [With You at Distance -- English translation]. It was actually performed by a fellow Latin American, Christina Aguilera, years ago. It's just that it became applauded and popular now because of David...

Back in college, I didn't have any subject of any other language besides English and Filipino. Well, it was more of Math subjects, no wonder. But in a way, the Spanish language had it's second home here in the Philippines because tracing back Philippine history, we were colonized by the Spaniards for 300+ years. Now I think I have to go back learning a few -- just a few...haha^_^

No matter how many times we say we don't want to get emotional over a certain thing, we still end up being one...

5 years back, I was just a newbie with months of experience from a call center company. I was adjusting my hours of sleep from making the day my sleeptime to getting back to the "normal" body clock. Confident answering calls but no need to speak in English -- all it takes is some bargaining and saying things properly. And there I was, a purchasing engineer who had dreams and goals to fulfill and challenges to surpass in the everyday grind.

I made friends through time who came and left as well, believing there are better things awaiting outside the four walls of this building. Friendships that developed through years of cranky jokes and serious talks of life's ordeals. Smiling and being happy accomplishing one task under pressure. Close to tears that was supposed to be shed because of the disappointments and mistakes that could have been avoided sometimes.

I used to be the nobody that they call the "newbie". Now, seeing me they would either exchange "hellos" "smiles" or short conversations. And from those, it ends up to bonding moments, whether because of a party or of talking over personal problems. I used to just sing in my workstation over songs that I hear from my computer or my mp3 player. Now, they would ask me every year if I am going to perform or if I would be practicing for a company event. I used to be the center of joke times until I became the one who would start up a joke towards another "forgetful" officemate or anyone I could start a punchline for a joke. I used to cry or shed a tear because of a simple reprimand or disappointment but now I learned that after a disappointment, you have to get up and get going. Receiving challenges were something that annoy me easily but now it's like a vitamin that I'd rather work on something than waste time and thinking of something to do. Challenges will always be there in life, but as my dad said, I must not give up.

If I would post all the things I learned from my 5 years of stay at this company, it would be boring for some to read. One thing certain, I learned a lot...I shall take them to the next destination of my life --- whichever road that would be...

Some people have been asking, "where are you heading after this resignation?". I got options actually. It's just how will I make them fruitful and where will I really end up. It a mixture of my effort, determination and faith plus God's grace and guidance.

To all my officemates, from the past and current, thank you for making my 5-year stay in Megaworld a memorable one. To those who became my friends are now part of my circle, the friendships will always be there and as I always say, distance and time ain't barriers anymore.

To the company, thank you for the opportunities and the challenges. It made me a better person from the "newbie" that I was 5 years ago. It made me stable and settled for the past 5 years and it saved me during the time I was looking for a new job.

Consummatum est... off to a new beginning...where would that be??? All I can say is I hope it is for the best...Now, I've grown up....

I am days away till I say "ciao" and head off to a new chapter of my career life...And as I head off to that new journey, I'd better have that list of what-to-do's and get rid of the limbo state...

1. Clean the house and de-clutter...DEFINITELY!!!...
-- sad to say, I'm the only one working on that errand at home...tsktsk...
2. Throw away old, unnecessary stuff...and re-organize my files and my room...WHEW!!!
-- this will take more than a day...
3. Work on stuff that can make me earn a few for the time being...
-- NO FURTHER ELABORATIONS FOR NOW...but IT WILL SURELY BE POSTED FOR POTENTIAL CLIENTS4. Catch up on reading books, new songs and watching DVD's...YES PLEASE!!!

5. Eat and sleep...in ample amounts...6. Submit applications...JUST IN CASE...
7. Learn something new, creative stuff...HMMM, LETS KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED ON THIS...HAHA
8. Lastly, say my little prayers of thanksgiving and strength to keep going and move forward to better things in my so-called life...

And after that incident, it was a class act for Beyonce to do this and save Taylor...

To Kanye, seriously that isn't a sign of maturity and manhood...1st, Taylor Swift is a woman, she deserves respect...and above all, be a good sport...Regardless if you apologize, the damage has been done and the disrespectful act is on You Tube now...Beyonce, you were awesome and humble enough to do such token in return for Taylor...And to Taylor Swift, well it may have been an embarrassing experience but stand up and dust it off...Still, congratulations on your Best Female Video from the VMA's

when you feel sick and tired of the negative things going on with your life...

when you feel that you have cried so much that your eyes are drying up...

when you feel that one loud and long scream is what you need to release the tensions inside your heart...

when you feel there's no detour in the road you're taking...

when you feel it's time to stop...

that's when something comes up and makes us realize that we shouldn't get sick and tired...that's when little miracles come along the way...that's when God tells us there's no reason for you to push yourself lower the pit...

The past few weeks was the lowest period of my year. I know it's a breather that after 5 long years I'm taking my career path to a different direction. But, seeing that I might end up in limbo state -- not knowing where I'd head next or not having a new job yet to replace -- is really depressing. For some, it might not be a major problem. For some, the decision I made could be a mistake. But if this mistake will be a way for me to learn and stand up again, I'm taking the challenge...

All of a sudden, from all my depressions and stresses of where I'll be heading next, a stop to think and pray was all I needed to keep me going again. When I stopped and cried out my all in my room, that's when I realized there's still so much more awaiting for me. This financial-problem-phase will just be temporary. That's when the other options and little miracles came to me. My family who never stopped believing I could still get a better job this time kept telling me to keep going. My friends who never ceased to remind me that this is just temporary. They have been sending messages to me of support and of options what to do for the meantime, instead of giving me the blame.

Honestly, I don't need reprimands at the moment because I know where my fault line is already. I should have made this decision before and I should have not made a thing or two opportunities pass before...But read this, "THAT WAS BEFORE"...I'm in for the next stage of my life -- get a new job here in the country or abroad or better yet, make this small business work. I've had enough of the crying and the depression. The stress already made me physically sick -- SO THAT'S REALLY ENOUGH. I've put myself down, made mistake but now, I'm gonna keep going and aim to get to where I should be.

So to those who have or are still pessimistic like I was weeks ago, I can't be too prophetic here...Don't worry too much [my friends were right...]...And when you feel you're gonna breakdown into the bottomless pit, pray...PRAY HARDER...AND DON'T QUIT...

**Danny Gokey**

Finally, one of the the top4 Idols this American Idol Season 8, Danny Gokey, signed a record deal with 19records/RCA Nashville. His first album will be recorded in Nashville, Tennessee and the single will be released late this fall. The album will be released in March, 2010.

CONGRATS, Danny!!! I've been waiting for this news to finally come into reality for a while...^_^

Over the weekend, it's all in the news that the Malaysian government has banned Muslims to go to the Black Eyed Peas concert set this Sept. 25 in KL. "simply we'll remember, while we're dancing in September..." and yesss...IT IS SEPTEMBER!!!

Here in the Philippines, Christmas season starts in this month. For some strange reason, radio stations play a few Christmas songs already. Christmas decos will be in the streets and establishments in the weeks to come...

But since I don't feel that excited to celebrate it just yet, how was my long weekend??? Hmmm...

1. A lunch treat, text messages, attending the Mass and a surprise phone call I made for Nabil and Izza -- all on that Saturday. The phone call lasted for 7 minutes but it was a fun one. How I wish it could have been longer or how I wish it was more than a phone call...

2. Home errands, food craving and chats with friends on a Sunday...Having dinner and long talks with friends don't happen everyday, especially now.

First stop was a Mexican foodie at Mexicali. I've been missing to eat TACOS my love for quite sometime already...wooohooo...

Then, a sweet deal and more chats at Red Mango...and I must say, I love the place. It's all in the blogosphere on how people love to keep coming back here. They've got yogurts where you can choose your own toppings for it. They also got smoothies, waffles and coffee. Definitely, it's my new crave!!!

3. Well, for the NTH time, I've been telling myself I'm gonna watch the movie "UP"...and finally I did...It's not just a cartoon *kiddie-giddy* stuff. It's for all ages. It isn't just a movie about a house that was lifted by tons of balloons. It was more than that...It reminded me of my grandparents on how they loved each other. It's about loving others in general.

And another, one of the heads in making this movie was a Filipino...He was featured in the local news days ago...So, there's a dash of Pinoy pride in me that made me watch this movie...It's nice to know that there are Filipinos working in Pixar... *applause*applause* ^_^

And to cap off my night, I went to a parlor owned by one of my choirmates, Ate Rose. The place is called Zamyu...so if there are Pasiguenos reading this blog site, check out her parlor -- It's in Kapasigan...

After 48 years [hehe...not quite], I finally had my hair shorter...I used to have long hair for the past 5 years already. Sometimes, we try stick to what we have and are afraid to get out of our comfort zone simply because we are afraid of what we're gonna end up afterwards...This time around, I've been so negative lately, it's time I start making a change beginning with the way I look...It brings out a different feeling and the motivation starts to get going...AGAIN...Thanks to those who gave me good compliments for my new 'do...And don't worry, this will grow long again in time...For now, I'm just loving and embracing it...

This weekend I would say is a laid back weekend for me -- the time to get out of that nasty negative shell...

But everytime I get out of it, I end up getting curled back up on too much negativity...

Oh well, let's get out of my personal numb life for now and share these videos I found out from some Danny Gokey fans...Here are three videos from YouTube care of Ms. Yong Chavez -- a reporter for ABS-CBN Filipino Channel...She was able to interview the finalists from American Idol Season 8...This first vid features Kris Allen, Danny Gokey, Matt Giraud, Lil Rounds and Scott Mcintyre who were thanking the support of the Filipinos for watching AI and for tweeting them [of course thru Twitter] ^_^

The second video is another random from all of them which also shows their autograph signing from their tour...Can I just say it was a blessing in disguise that Danny Gokey joined this year?!! And with or without the glasses he really looks soooo cute^_^...

This third video is her interview with Danny Gokey about random topics like his plans for his album, down to wearing glasses , falling in love again and wanting to visit the Philippines...wooohooo^_^...Well, I just hope that day would come..Another future anticipation next to David Archuleta [*hint*hint*i hope David Archie hears that*]

Well, Danny Gokey is really one of those I love in American Idol...Everytime I feel so down that I give up, he suddenly passes through my mind making me realize that there are still reasons to move forward...Such good people like him and David are really not just crowd pleasers, but inspirations to make a difference in other people's lives...God bless them...Enough said, more posts in the days to come^_^

Back in the days, I used to learn that heroes are only those what we only see in History books and monuments because they are already dead. They could be considered heroes because they die to protect their country/territory from foreign invaders.

But what really defines a hero???

A quote goes "Heroes are not born, they are made." Well, true enough, God knows each one's fate already, but the person himself knows that he needs to work on sculpting his own life.

A hero...

doesn't have to be rich or famous to be one...
doesn't have to make a drastic change...Big things come from small beginnings...
doesn't have to die just to be considered one...While alive, the person can be recognized already and given the tribute he deserves...
doesn't have to be in war...Ammunition or weapons aren't necessary; Having the armors like good intentions, charity and peace can go places...

can be somebody or everybody...It can be your parents who work damn hard to provide you good education...It can be your teacher who provides you knowledge every single day...It can be a neighbor who extends his help for household repairs...It can be a church server who shares the goodness and words of God, making you realize how the Supreme Being is so essential...It can be an office mate you can rely on during your financial needs...It can be a friend who kept cheering and pacifying you to go on life and never lose hope and faith...

It can be YOU who would start loving their country by taking the initiative to vote...It can be YOU who would start making a change by joining groups with the advocacy to help their needy fellowmen...It can be YOU...

Again, heroes are not born, they are made...It's National Heroes' Day...Let's take pride and give gratitude to those who gave their lives just for our country's freedom...and to those who are still with us giving their very best to make the Philippines and the world a better place to live in...

I simply can't help it...There are bits and pieces to and fro so it's about time I spread some love and news about David Archuleta...I'm on a high to blog...Here it goes...

ALMA Awards 2009

It's all in the news. David will be performing in the ALMA [American Latino Media Arts] Awards -- an award giving body for American Latinos honoring their contributions in the field of music, film, tv, sports and behind-the-scenes. He's also one of the special honorees in the field of Music, wherein one from among them in this category will receive the award. This will be aired in the US on September 18 via ABC 8/7C [that's Sept. 19 for us here in the Philippines...if that will be aired here]. Well, I just hope it will be shown on Philippine tv too. For now, either we can watch it via streaming or someone would be kind enough to download and place it in You Tube *giving a hint -- wink wink* ^_^...

On a different note, I'm posting this as my own little way of helping to spread the Archu-duties around...especially to all the fans of David in the Philippines...

1. Rising Star Outreach Project

This has actually been discussed to some of us during the Archuleta Phils' GT weeks ago. Rising Star Outreach has this project called Pathway of Hope supported by David via Angels for a Cause. I'm pretty sure every supportive David Archie fan knows this already. Each brick that you buy from them costs $50 (P2500/brick). Since not everyone can afford it [practically, some of his Filipino fans are students right???] , the guys from Archuleta Philippines are now having this endeavor called "Save the Day" wherein we can donate at a minimum of P25.00 which in return can give us the chance to have a raffle ticket and win the "Angels for a Cause" bracelet. But according to them, if we donate an amount of P250, we will be getting the bracelet automatically without joining the raffle anymore.

2. Benefit Concert -- soon...
Another, I promised that I will post this on my blog so here it is. Besides the fact that I'm having a headache today, I'm starting to feel my so-called "MID-WEEK BREAKDOWN"...

Sad to say, there's no pill that I can swallow to cure me at the moment...

It's been weeks already that I've been feeling this way...Honestly, I know I made a better choice...I chose to have a better career and financial path...But as the days and weeks pass, I start to get worried about how will I end up...

I know that some of the people, who came in and left to choose the same decision I just made, are doing better now...My mind is saying I can, but my heart and spirit are feeling weak...Day by day, getting rejections or no responses from the few that I've submitted sickens me already...In addition, I am on the family pressure that I need to get a replacement [from the choice I made] because I need to help them for us to survive...My head's rambling thoughts right now that I can utilize my plans properly...One thing sure at the moment, I can make our needs for survival but not to be superbly rich...I dream to have a family of my own too, you know...

Few of my friends keep giving me reasons not to give up and be positive that some good things would turn out soon...Some, in fact, say that the power of prayers do help...But, sometimes, I know it isn't right, but I start to question if is there really a right prayer formula for success??? Do I have to cry so hard just for me to be heard??? Maybe, I'm just pessimistic and impatient...because I know my days are numbered too...Still, thanks to you guys for not giving up on me...

I just don't want to listen to those who would keep asking me, what's gonna happen next for me??? Or some thing like, am I sure of my decision??? Effing...YES I AM SURE...I'm taking the risk than staying confined in a rut of not doing something I would love to do...I'm willing to the take the risk of being in another place to fulfill my passions...

I just don't want to think about worrying what I'll end up for a day...

I just want to finally get the improvement I deserve -- hopefully in a better place...

I just want to take a hiatus from this negativity...

DEAR LORD, they say that good things come to those who wait and have faith...With Your guidance and blessings, keep me intact...Bless me for the good things to finally come to prosper one after the other...I don't know what to do anymore...I've been working on it, but still You are the Provider...You are the only source...

Gone were the days when I used to dream that one day I could join beauty contests. The years passed when I used to be an avid excited viewer of prestigious beauty contests just like the one yesterday, Miss Universe 2009. Not because I can't join but because I guess I have outgrown that fanaticism already. I remember the last time I got soooo excited to watch it was way back in 1999, when Miriam Quiambao was close to winning the Philippines' 3rd Miss Universe title. She won 1st place that time.

Among 83 participants all over the world, the title was won by another South American -- for two straight years -- Miss Venezuela.

It's kind of odd that lately, the countries winning these competitions have interpreters during Question and Answer portions. Well, I'm not sour-graping guys. I just think that in worldwide competitions like this, beauty contestants should be able to speak the universal language which is English. It will be watched by millions worldwide plus whoever wins will be going around the world for charity work. Smiles can do wonders but not the entire day, right? She still has to talk, right? It will just go to show how the beauty queen can be versatile and intelligent if she knows how to speak English besides her national language...

Anyway, congrats to the winner and to the Venezuelan community...They really produce beauty queens...Some countries make it a career...I just hope they don't forget the real essence of beauty pageants like these...Not just to gain titles, but to contribute in making this world a better place...Not to be a celebrity after a year, but a catalyst of change and charity...

Since my mind can't function to blog what should be placed here, I just want to say that it's nice to anticipate and savor long holiday weekends, right???

Here in the Philippines, August 21 is a national holiday commemorating the death anniversary of Ninoy Aquino. Who was he? Well, he was assassinated 26 years ago in 1983 that triggered the Filipino people to revolt against the president that time, Ferdinand Marcos, who happened to rule thru dictatorship. Fast forward to the present, a lot of people were ever present to offer a prayer rally for the country in his honor in the streets of Ayala Avenue, Makati City.

Meanwhile, in the religious side of things, it's the start of Ramadan tomorrow for our Muslim brothers and sisters all over the world. So it's a holiday for them too...As it was said on twitter, Selamat Berpuasa^_^

Long weekends are really fun for everyone who's pre-occupied with work or studies every weekday. In what sense??? Let's count the ways...

1. Sleeping late and waking up in time for lunch or afternoon snacks...
2. Eat while watching tv as if there's no tomorrow[not all offices and schools can make eating multitask with anything there]...
3. Go to the nearest mall and get some cool atmosphere or go to the nearest travel destination to get a tan...
4. One wouldn't care what time is it...
5. Do anything that doesn't involve lectures in class or workloads in the office...
6. Blog, update facebook and tweet all the more in Twitter...
7. Update one self with tidbits from their favorite idol...ah ehem...this one's for the fangirl in me...Watching David Archie videos and discovered that David Cook finally has got Twitter...haha...follow him tweeps: @thedavidcook ...it's really him courtesy of his brother Andrew, Brooke White and American Idol News...
8. Lastly, reflect on some things that might seem to end and trigger new beginnings...

I just had my lunch before heading here to work, at the never-ending staple fast food Mcdonald's. And, suddenly I saw this on my tray [it has really caught my attention...like there's a bulb that suddenly turned on *ting*!!! haha]
Well, I'm not a big Hello Kitty fan, but still it's cute to collect at least a few of these and keep them. Each has a different design and a different toy representing every year from the time Hello Kitty was shown in the public...

The last time I collected Happy Meal stuff from Mcdonald's was during my college days. I remember in our college, Mcdonald's was the only fast food available and closest. So during lunch time, it's either we eat in nearby [carinderias or eatery] or in Mcdonald's. There are just times that the child in me still shows up. Well, everybody has.

Anyway, if there's one thing from this set that I need to get it's this one...the one in the left...

Wanna know why???? Hmmm...I was born in 1982...ok folks, so that makes me 27 years old...thank you...haha

So to all Pinoy peeps there, the Hello Kitty collection is in every Mcdo Happy Meal...Happy Collecting!!! ^_^

My weekend was spent staying at home, watching tv, which I haven't been doing most of the time. My Sunday was a day of victories actually, in the field of sports.

1st, the victory of the entire Filipino nation as boxer Nonito Donaire won the WBA title over Rafael Concepcion of Panama via unanimous decision and finishing off 12 rounds of it. According to Donaire, he is dedicating this fight to the late President Cory Aquino. Every proud Filipino was glued to the tv during lunch time as it was aired around 12 noon, Manila time.

Meanwhile, hours later, another victory in the field of collegiate basketball -- the one i truly cheer on. In UAAP Season 72, Ateneo de Manila University swept victory over its archrival De La Salle University, 81-65. Well, being a fan of the Ateneo Blue Eagles [even if I am from an NCAA school...haha] since the start I got hooked in watching UAAP games, it was effortless for me to cheer on this defending champs last year....ehem....Go Ateneo! One Big Fight! ^_^

ok...those were two victories...so where's the bittersweet anticipation???

I saw from Twitter.com that David Archuleta's Christmas album will be released on Oct. 13, entitled Christmas from the Heart [it's sooo close to Jose Mari Chan's Christmas album decades back "Christmas in Our Hearts"...haha...di ba?]. Actually, one can pre-order it already via Amazon.com. It's a sweet anticipation...What made it bitter? It's $13.98 [or close to Php700] if you pre-order via the website and I can't do that at the moment. The money I have right now is needed for the rainy days [hardship days, in layman's terms]...Now that's bittersweet...I guess I'll just have to wait for it to be released here in Manila...oh well...

To all the Left-Handed...let's celebrate^_^

As a child, I felt and saw myself differently. Most people have a common side of gripping and writing. When I started attending school, the curiosity grew. "Why are my classmates using their other hand to write?" "Why am I left-handed?" "Am I normal?" And when all the while I was asking those questions to myself, so are the people around me -- my classmates and my friends. Growing up, my parents never made me feel inferior about the issue. They always gave the reassurance that it was a gift --- God's gift and sign that I am different from anybody else, on a positive note.

A song goes -- "words can't bring me down" -- and so I was...It never made me pressured or depressed through the years to change the way I do my handwriting and gripping of anything. This left hand became my strength and instrument to where I am right now. It became my writing buddy for the longest time and now my main tool to accessories making.

Funny as it may sound for some but US celebrates National Left-Handed Day. Never had I known that they give value to the minority who had the different side of things -- being left-handed. Through time, my circle of acquaintances and relationships grew bigger and I discovered there were some more like me who are left-handed. And all of a sudden, being a leftie is normal. But the gifts out of left-handed, there were more than I thought -- painters, musicians, singers, writers, leaders...the list goes on...

Thank God I am a leftie...

Owl City -- insomniac in productivity^_^

Most persons would say one can efficiently work during the day. But, one person in particular got his creativity and talent from being productive at night...nocturnal and insomniac...No wonder he used the pseudonym known as "Owl City" -- cause the artist is kinda like an owl, awake at night^_^

Owl City is comprised of actually one person, Adam Young, together with his instruments and love for music. He was able to make songs out of staying up late at night at a space in their house. He posted his creations in My Space website and it brought a stir to every music lover who hears his music. He already released two albums, "Maybe I'm Dreaming" and "Ocean Eyes" his sophomore album that is being talked about by fellow music artists in Twitter. The fact that he was mentioned a couple of times by David Archuleta, my soooooo infinite idol, my curiosity about this singer didn't stop by reading tweets.

Listening to his music, it's got the synthpop, new wave kind of sound. His songs are pleasing to the ear and are like comfort foods -- soothes and relaxes. From his songs that I heard lately, "Fireflies" and "Saltwater Room" are my faves. He likes putting themes like natural elements [like the song "Fireflies"], urban design [e.g "Designer Skyline"] and travel [e.g "Hello Seattle"]. I personally recommend that you listen to any of his songs and possibly, you would love one from the playlist.

Twitter downtime...hacked???

Just this morning, I wasn't feeling well due to colds and sore throat...Thanks to my mom who passed on the virus...oh dear...

What added up to my impatience was the down syndrome of Twitter. For some strange reason, I can see updates of the other tweeps but I can't update my own tweets. It may not be a national concern but for people around the globe especially celebrities / personalities who use this website as a medium of communication, it is an event that brought annoyance. I myself included and still having the annoyance...

As I'm posting this blog, I still can use the website properly. But Tweetdeck functions well, so at least I'm now updating you tweeps for the rest of the night...

After American Idol season 8 finale, there have been rumors spreading whether Paula Abdul would still be judging for season 9. Days ago, I was just all giddy and missing the reality tv show and then yesterday, the rumor is now a fact. Paula Abdul won't be seen in the next season of American Idol in January 2010. She even sent her tweet via @paulaabdul making this news coming straight from her.

According to the news, Abdul was asking for $20M to return next season but the management was just offering half of that amount. Weeks before that, it was confirmed that Ryan Seacrest was given $45M for his 3-year additional contract with Idol. Simon Cowell got his raise making him one of the highest paid judges for a reality show. Kara Dioguardi will be returning next season. And all of a sudden, this happened. The not-so-good part is that after 8 years of being the nicest judge of American Idol, who never gave harsh judgements to the contestants and who always wore outfits with glam, it all ended with one particular disagreement -- money. Sometimes, all good things come to an end.

As I replied via twitter through Ryan Seacrest, I shall say it again. No offense to Kara Dioguardi fans, but American Idol will never be the same again without Paula Abdul. Just to remind my fellow David Archuleta fans here, she was the one who was all praises and always on Archie's side. But as an undying quote goes, "The show must go on"...So with or without Paula, American Idol shall air early next year. As for Ms. Abdul, thank you for the 8 good years you have shared to the millions of viewers of American Idol. I'm sure you will be deeply missed.

During this time of the year, I used to miss one of my favorite TV shows -- American Idol. I found this out from Syesha Mercado, one of the top10 finalists from American Idol season 7. Well, of all the seasons, theirs is really my most loved and most unforgettable. Why???

1. another Filipina in the top10 -- Ramiele Malubay
2. the 1st season that I got to watch from auditions to the finals...season 8 is the other one
3. the 1st season where instruments were allowed to be used during performances
4. the only Finals that had both finalists with the same name-slash-having brotherly love
and of course,
5. David Archuleta [no need to further explain!!! <3<3<3]

what i learned from a female President???

Aug 1, 2009 -- The first day of new month and what a way to start it but with the passing of another prominent individual, a mover and shaker of Philippine history. It's all in the news around the world. Former President and the First Female President in Asia, Corazon C. Aquino died at the age of 76 after a year and four month battle from colon cancer.

Growing up with the knowledge that she was a part of the country's political and current affairs, I would say she's really contributed a lot. She may not have pleased everybody, but she has been admired and emulated by many. In the world of politics dominated by men, she triggered changes from being a politician's wife and widow to the Philippines' 11th Commander-in-Chief. Being a mother of 5 siblings, she took the place of leading a revolt against a dictator made her the mother of the entire nation.

Honestly, I'm not a big Cory follower. I still remember my grandmother scolding me because she can't sway me to be a Cory Aquino loyalist like her. She would misjudge me to be a Marcos loyalist, whereas I wasn't even born or a grown up by the time Marcos lead the country. But despite that, through the years, I learned some things from her. In passing, her prayerful life never decreased that even up to her last hours on earth she kept praying the rosary with her children. She died asleep after the 5th Sorrowful mystery -- the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. In her achievements and tragedies, she never lost faith. In making major decisions in her life, it was the power of prayer that was her greatest armor. Lately, I've been going through difficulties, confusions and so I need to surpass some major decisions in my life. I'm on the process of taking some baby steps towards change that the negativity pricks me. I guess God is really showing His manifestations that I shouldn't give up and that prayers work wonders, through President Cory's story.

Her simplicity and strength amidst adversities lead the entire country and the world see that a woman can make a difference. Above all, her patriotic acts catalyzed every Filipino to take initiatives waking up and making a change for this country -- not losing that hope of working ways to have a better Philippines. Whether taking it to the streets or taking it silently by helping other people, she lived and died with love and Filipino pride.

Sad to say sometimes, we don't just bury the dead but also their memories and the things we can learn from them. But with the way things are going on in our country, I still believe that it was only her physical being that has died. The legacy she left lives on and in fact, it has to keep going. As we say goodbye to a Philippine history icon, let us start a new beginning of uniting and keeping this country better, with a sense of pride and love.

Rest in Peace and Thank You for the selfless dedication and love for our country, Former President Corazon C. Aquino. The legacy shall continue; the love for the Philippines shall remain in me...

politics really ain't my cup of tea

Ever since, I have always been vocal about this when I'm asked about any opinion related to politics --- can we just talk about something else? --- It's not because I don't care about the concerns that politics results into, but because when I see it in the news, it becomes an endless exchange of bickering and backstabbing from opposite parties involved...That makes it sooo sick -_-'

Just this Monday, our country's President, her excellency, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo gave her ninth and last [i hope so...] State of the Nation Address. This has been a yearly event where she addresses her accomplishment report and plans for the year as president of the Philippines. Well, every incumbent president does that here...And every year, whoever is president never pleases everybody. There is always the opposing groups of people commenting on every word uttered in that speech. But of course, being the blogger that I am, I took the initiative of printing the copy of that SONA...

In the news, there were only certain highlights seen like when Pres. GMA was saying some stuff about the presidential aspirants and her critics. Well, it's true that it shouldn't have been an avenue for her to say her "revenge" statements against them. After all, it is a "State of the Nation Address" -- what our country's status is. It isn't necessary to talk against the critics cause after all, each president who lived in Malacanang got his piece of negativity.

On a positive note, it's nice to know that throughout her term, somehow, there were projects done and dealt with concerning the Filipino masses. True enough, despite the recession the whole world is experiencing, our country, our government was able to make measures that can withstand the effects of it. It may not have made the country soooo rich, but still, we still earn. In every problem, alternatives were provided. It may not have been 100% effective but of course, let's still put into consideration the fact that success and progress don't take come overnight. I understand the sentiments of the masses who believe they haven't felt the touch of progress or development. Those who are jobless, undereducated, homeless --- there are still a lot of them in the streets. But here's my thought about it, let's not make our entire lives to be saved by our government. These politicians are not heroes who have special powers to make us rich. At the end of the day, it will still depend on us if we really want to be successful. Just like in any other country, the government should just provide programs to lessen our burdens --- provide free education for the poor, give homes to the homeless, provide jobs. But the poverty can only be alleviated if we work hard for ourselves. It is useless if they provide jobs and we don't save even small amounts for future use. It is useless if they provide free education and the parents would make these kids work instead of study. It is useless if there are housing projects and yet these people would still prefer going back to their usual place -- near the riverbanks or railways.

Instead of expressing all our concerns in the streets all the time, why not stop feeling so much pity and just taking the initiative of doing things for ourselves. Trust me, if each Filipino would do so, plus of course bringing back the "bayanihan" spirit that we should have, there is no need for so much rallies...Doing little efforts can make our country better...With that, more people would be interested to talk about politics -- on a positive note -- like me...But until that time comes, this is still not my cup of tea [thank God i took Engineering^_^].

it's a nice feeling that after an entire day outside -- whether it's because of work or just plain hanging out -- you can succumb to a haven called home where you can be your super true self...

but it's extra special when you get home and receive not just a surprise, a special surprise, just like this...

a package arrived yesterday afternoon in our quaint home coming from Malaysia...and when i saw it stamped "Johor Bahru", i have already guessed it...of course, everyone at home was asking from who, i already told them it was from one of my friends i met online [thru twitter] named Nabil... the excited that i was, without a doubt, opened the package and...voila!!!!

yesss!!! i got my copy now of 17 Mag Malaysia with my idol, David Archie on the cover [ok, jiminy crickets...stop your negative vibes and comments...I DON'T NEED THEM!!! ^_^] but for a minute there, i stopped and think how thankful i am and privileged that somebody entrusted an ordinary person like me to be given a post birthday gift even if we are living miles apart, moreover, a person they only met online...the fact Nabil hasn't seen me in person yet, only in pictures, makes me feel so blessed to have met a friend like her...and i must not forget her bff that i met there too named Izza...who started out a conversation just because she liked my name [well, in Manila, Carla is common name gal...hehe^_^]...but both of them have been my absolute buddies here and additional shock absorbers [of course, my Pinoy friends are on that list...haha] i'm just sooo happy to share with you guys that i have been afraid a couple of times making friends with people i don't know so well...but that was before...i guess it's a matter of weighing options and choosing who are the friends you can trust...and as for trusting, it takes time...an ample amount of time...

i'm still on a high with having my own copy of the mag...and im definitely gonna keep it with the envelope...haha^_^
ok enough said...more thoughts to come soon...but for now, to close this up...in return for the surprise gift...i know this is not much compared to MYR6.0 worth of the magazine [which doesn't include the postal costs yet...haha] but i just prepared a special something to share to everyone how i'm grateful to have these two gals as a part of my circle...

p.s. i hope that time shall come for me to see you Nabil and Izz in person...so here it is...[a bit sleepy already on the vid...haha^_^]

Harry Potter 6 and my half-blood thoughts... =)

Time simply flew sooo fast that after two years, it's another Harry Potter sequel. This time it's the second to the last installment of the adaptation of a JK Rowling bestseller novel. It's been months since I last watched a movie in the big screen -- in a movie house. I passed out on last week's invites from two of my friends cause of two reasons: a storm last week here in Manila and a movie time of 9:50pm of a Sunday [sheesh...dont wanna look sleepyhead on Mondays]. So luckily, I had an officemate-slash-toothbrush buddy tagged along to watch it with me [ok, the toothbrush buddy i'll explain sometime soon =)]. Let's name her Jinky [haha^_^]. So Jinky and I went to G4 [short for Glorietta 4 Mall -- just nearby my workplace] and got the 2nd to the last airing time.

Well, without a doubt, two thumbs up for the special effects and cinematography...They never disappointed us in that aspect...Plus, in every sequel, the characters have really all grown up...They all matured physically except for Daniel Radcliffe's [Harry Potter] height [haha^_^]...And in every sequel, there is always the issue of complaints that certain important parts in the book were not given justice or shown in the movie...I guess that's the disappointing fact when movies are made from book adaptations...A two to three hour film compresses the quality in a many-paged book...But still, Harry Potter sequels amaze the viewing public, no wonder they always top the movie charts every time...The highlight for me was actually the last part of the movie where they were mourning for a character's death [ok, i won't spill out here who that is -- not to spoil the excitement for those who haven't watched it yet]...In my opinion, it was just an "ok" movie for me compared to their previous sequels of H.P...
But in the entire movie, there was one thing that caught my attention and made me glued to the big screen...I therefore conclude, she's my girl crush...haha...

Harry Potter 6 simply ended just like that...and I hope that the last sequel should be sooo awesome, that it's leaves an indelible mark in the movie industry...which will be around 2011 or 2012???=)

being stuck in the office on a Friday -- where classes in school and work in some companies are already suspended due to the heavy rains -- gives me blood-rushing and subconscious thinking in random...a lot!!!

so what is my mind trying to feed in me and spit out at the moment???

1. Harry Potter 6 is showing in theaters since yesterday, July 16...second to the last installment and it is but all important for me to watch it...i've been an avid follower of this series, regardless if Daniel Radcliffe starts to mature physically minus the height [haha =p]...he's still got a soft spot for me...and the movie of course...i'm gonna watch it in the days to come, just have to let the rains lessen a bit^_^

2. there are sooo many budding musicians/singers coming out in the planet...honestly, i'm having a hard time recognizing some of them...but lately, thanks to the power of the internet, i browse and see them everyday here in my office p.c [personal computer]...currently, i'm getting myself acquainted with Demi Lovato and Benton Paul...they are not products of the longest singing reality contest -- American Idol -- but they've got the talents and the rights to be in the industry...i'll let you know the updates and info i get from the artists i browse on very soon...

3. sooo much to anticipate for this month: besides Harry Potter, there are two new albums from American Idol peeps for release this July 21st... Season 6 winner, Jordin Sparks, releases her sophomore album "Battlefield" which i'm sure you have been hearing on the airwaves already...this has it's first single released already entitled "Battlefield" as well

on the other hand, Season 7 finalist, Brooke White, also releases her sophomore album called "High Hopes and Heartbreaks"...i already heard her single "Radio Radio" and it's on my mp3 player...i like her songs, they are feel good and for easy listening like when one's just killing time or need to think about...think about...

and speaking of think about...

4. i can't stop talking about David Archuleta...sorry peeps...haha...since i started following him on Twitter, i can't stop updating myself of what are the latests about him...of course, i don't have the right to interfere about "everything" about him, but at least knowing what he does in his career and towards his fans already completes my day...

a stuff toy from a cartoon named "Totoro"...his blogs and videos of what happens to him every single day...his being family oriented...his childlike randomness...and the list will seem to be endless...

one thing certain i love this guy...and i can't wait for his sophomore album and Christmas album [have to get ready for a new set of spendin' stuff...haha]

oh well, and since it is a Friday, a sleep more till weekend, i'm absolutely wondering of what can i do to spend my weekends wisely???
-- do some errands at home [yup carla, your clothes are piling up...haha^_^]
-- dispose some old stuff [yesss carla, organizing please^_^]
-- listen and search for some songs [to keep myself updated...freaking yesss!!!]
-- read a good book and do some self-study [knowledge is power and i would need it very soon...secret...lol^_^]
and last but definitely not the least, eat-shower-sleep...well-deserved for a week of workload piled up [because of getting an SG rest ryt, remember???!!..haha]

sheesh...enough of this randomness, just hope i get to watch Harry Potter next week so i can give a few cents of my thoughts about it...

one heart touching many

Another "D" adds up to my list of faves in American Idol -- Daughtry, David Archuleta and recently, Danny Gokey. When I first saw him during the American Idol Season 8 audition episodes, I was touched, inspired and amazed with Danny's determination to keep going in life. Of course, not failing to mention his 'crooner' voice and dance moves [haha...my opinion peeps ^_^] that swept me off my feet every single week on watching Idol. That time, he just faced tragedy when his wife, Sophia, died weeks before the auditions. SInce then until he lost in making to the top 2 -- season finale, he has always been vocal about the foundation he established in honor of his wife.

And just today, I saw Sophias Heart Foundation's website wherein if we purchase any of the items, obviously the proceeds will go to the foundation. Danny has been sending tweets regarding the website about the items and this absolutely drew my attention...

This is the only accessory for purchase on the site which is named "one heart touching many"...It costs $7.00 (Php 350.00) and of course, it shall be a bit pricey if it will be shipped to our "Pearl of the Orient" country^_^...I'm having second thoughts of getting my hands on this one...I hope I can make it...It looks kinda cool to wear [just hope this is washable because it only has one color -- white], but of course, the proceeds will go a long way...

Hats off to Danny Gokey...I hope you would be able to help more people through your foundation and that your future projects will prosper^_^

fulfilling a simple promise

two of the many things i learned to appreciate during my recent trip are photography and recording videos...i may not be a graduate of Mass Communications or anything related to that, but i started to like them because of the solo trip i had...that when you look back, it's like writing a journal [right, David A??? haha...]...i may fade away but the pictures and videos would be living memories...plus in the future, these are things i could share to many, like what i'm doing now through my blog...

actually, i recorded videos of my walking and roaming around the city...and since i'm just projecting my real ordinary self, even my crazy expressions and thoughts suddenly came out in the open...

as for the moment, i'm only going to post two short vids for a good friend i have ,living in the same continent as mine -- Malaysia...i promised to give her a surprise and i simply fulfilled my promise, in fact i did two [so that's promises ryt???haha^_^]...i took a video of this mall in Singapore, specifically in Bugis area, called Iluma and i called her through my cellphone minutes before my departure from Singapore...

actually, i got to meet three awesome and nice gals from Malaysia and we all have one thing in common -- our deepest admiration and love [i guess...haha] for David Archuleta and his music...i met these three through twitter but the distance didn't become a hindrance to this friendship we have...i'm sooo happy to have known and met u gals [Nabil, Izza and Debra]...but for now, i'm doing this for Nabil...

uniquely Singapore...in Zero Gravity^_^

after months of preparing and saving money, i finally got my post-birthday present for myself...last year it was Malaysia nd just a week ago...SINGAPORE!!!

it was a 5-day trip for me, myself and I...i felt a few jitters for this trip when suddenly i ended up being alone. but then again, if i would not pursue it, it'll make me feel worse that i did not accomplish it the way i want it...so, i just packed my bags and fixed my itinerary for the entire week and headed off to my 2nd out-of-the-country destination...

Singapore is a small country...i didn't have a hard time roaming around the place cause there are so many directions and signs -- easy to comprehend...also, most residents speak in English [so of course, my nose-bleeding English skills *ehem* came to the rescue...haha]...and not to forget, my trusty map that's always in my bag the entire 5 days...

so how was my 5-day trip like???

1. roamed around the city via MRT, buses and by merely walking [no wonder my legs still sore...]
2. explored certain stops like Chinatown [for thrifty shoppers], Little India, Orchard Road and City Hall area [where most shopping malls are^_^]
3. Sentosa experience -- tried the Luge and the Cable Car; one with nature via Underwater World, Siloso Beach and the Merlion
4. headed to Singapore Zoo [to be one with some of my pals' look-alikes..lol] and National Museum of Singapore [got to know more of their heritage and culture]
5. fulfilled a promise when i went to Bugis and searched Iluma Mall *that's for my friend, Nabil*

and when Singapore turns to night, i had my night out thanks to my awesome friends-slash-former officemates who are there at the moment...

this will not be the end...certainly, a new beginning...

in summary, this whole trip made me in Zero Gravity!!!

it's nice to know that despite his "VERY" busy schedule and "VERY" popular status [being swarmed by sooo many fans], he's just any ordinary person...he always sees the bright side of every situation...he is happy of what he has and what he is going through at the moment...

i don't just admire him as a singer -- because of his charm and his voice -- but more over, as a person of good nature and attitude...hope he stays in the industry for the longest time, but if not [haha...now im starting to use that liner^_^], he will always have a special place in my heart and my mind...yesss naman...

it's all in the news...it's all in twitterland...

being an 80's child [born in the 80's that is...], these two people are common names in the household...and now that they both passed away on the same day, the world is one in grieving for their plight to death...

she was one third of the tv series that was revived in big screen years ago...she was one of those three who responds to a voicebox and says "good morning Charlie"...there was Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and...Farrah Fawcett [the girl in the middle with a red top]...their show Charlie's Angels ended in 1981 but thanks to the local Phil. tv stations, it was re-aired during my high school/college days...thanks to my parents i was influenced with the 60-70-80's genre so i'm really familiar of this show...

but today, it was all in the morning's news here in Manila that Farrah Fawcett died from cancer...

and just hours later, one of the biggest influences in the music industry is already in his journey to our Lord...most singers at present consider him to be one of their idols and influences in their craft in music...

his music and physical transformations [let's not forget that] were part of my lifetime...i was growing up with his music too...he had tons of hits and there was no decade during his lifetime that his songs were not loved and touched many...

P.Y.T, Beat It, Billie Jean, Man in the Mirror, Black and White -- these are the songs i've liked through the years...there's so much more for the millions who admired and lived thru his music...he also inspired a lot of artists today to perform with so much energy during concerts and inspired them to help in the needing parts of society...

a lot of sadness actually on twitter right now for this awesome man...even this guy over here...

a very familiar icon...Michael Jackson...who died of cardiac arrest in LA...

and today, the world for some strange reason stopped...the world suddenly unites in mourning...and for sure it'll be for the longest time...but his music will always be instilled, passed on and relived...

the awful truth is this...we keep saying good things to those who already pass away when we could have done or returned the good deeds they had contributed to our lives...no matter if they might have offended us even, we should rather look at the good points of a person rather than curse them for the longest time for what might have been a single mistake against us...

another awful truth, no offense to some musicians/singers, some keep saying MJ has been their influence in music but in reality i can't even see a thing or two in their music...where was MJ in your music???...i hope now that he is dead, his name wouldn't be pulled to get their fame whereas MJ was never a part of their music...just plain honesty over here^_^

the world mourns for the loss of the King of Pop and a Charlie's Angel...but their memories and contributions to the industry will always be there...May they both rest in peace and for sure, they are in a much better place now...God bless their souls..

for us living, they have been and will always be a part of us...and after this, it's all back to business...good business i hope^_^

what i learned from my dad? [post-Father's day blog]

if mothers bear us out in this world, fathers provide sustainance for us to keep living in this world...mostly, mothers are given so much importance but we fail to realize that no child would be born with egg cells alone [just being honest^_^]...at present, we are fully aware that there are single parents around, but i am just so lucky and blessed that my dad and mom have been partners thru the years to keep our family going...

so i just thought of making my own list too like the one posted on the Phil. Daily Inquirer last Sunday [june 21, 2009]...

what did i learn from my father???
1. EAT AND LIVE HEALTHY --- my dad has been our influence in a lot of ways to live longer...eat fruits, veggies and fish [which i can tolerate for days]...drink tea...do some long walks or exercise in the morning...no to smoking [because he quit smoking when i was 6 years old]...get a medical check-up with the doctor when symptoms persist...
2. POVERTY ISN'T A HINDRANCE TO EDUCATION --- and truly i say to you...it is not!!!...my dad grew up being a working student just to sustain his education...utilized his knowledge in chess and became a college varsity player to finish college...he kept telling us these stories when we were kids and he was never ashamed to tell these...not to for us to feel pity but to realize that having no allowance should not stop anyone to continue studying and be successful...
3. THERE IS NO YOUNG OR OLD AGE TO DO SOMETHING NEW -- my dad's love for cartoons esp. the Disney stuff and playing computer games and cooking as a new hobby [at the age of 50-something] are just examples that i will keep in mind as i get older...
4. TRAVELING IS A LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE
5. BEING GOOD IN WRITING AND SPEAKING IN ENGLISH BUILDS BRIDGES -- English is one of the universal languages...ever since i was a child, my dad never gave up in teaching me to be fluent in English...i stopped during my elementary years because my classmates would tease me of being a nerd or a spoiled brat every time i spoke in English...but as i grew older, the language lead to one of my passions in life - writing...not only that, being in another country, English helps =)
6. BETTER BE THE BOSS OF YOUR OWN BUSINESS THAN A SIMPLE WORKER -- well, this i have to work on thru time definitely...my dad kept encouraging us to put up our own businesses soon...and from the many testimonies i've heard of taking preferences to have a business than just be an employee, i shall be heading on to that soon enough...
7. THE ESSENCE OF PRAYERS AND DETERMINATION -- need i say more???

and lastly, the poem i've heard from my dad for ages...as in ages...and this never fails...i may have forgotten a few lines from it, but this poem will really remind me of him for the rest of my life...

the past few weeks, i feel so blackout to post anything in this blog site whereas i know there's a lot running in this brain...so since now i can tinker and write, let's count the ways or updates of my simple kinda life^_^

1. before the holidays, i got my 1st early birthday gift...i've been reading tweets about David Archuleta's FanPack EP via iTunes...ok call me jurassic but because of this i learned to start using iTunes for my p.c here at work...haha...but thanks to the awesome peeps of OneDavidNet i got the FanPack and have been playing the song Zero Gravity for the nth time already [on earphones so no worries in bothering other peeps]^_^

2. the Phil. Independence holidays gave me time to workout in the gym and get my well-deserved space -- space to read my early birthday gift for myself

i've been reading this a couple of times already...just can't help it sorry...thanks also to ArchuletaPhilippines who became the access for me to get the magazine ^_^

3. for the past two months, i've been suuuupeerrrr as in ssuuuuperrrr addicted to this website that most are now aware of [i hope]...Twitter!!!...the addiction is actually getting in my nerves that i've been telling myself lately to minimize it, but at the moment, i still don't know how...it kills an ample amount here at work and drains my cellphone load as i mobile tweet every night...haha...PEEPS PLS DONT EMULATE ME FOR THAT MATTER!!! ^_^

but in a way, Twitter made me aware of what celebrities do in their everyday situations, making me realize that they are ordinary people too...and true enough, we don't actually know them no matter what we say that we know these celebrities by heart...and above all, i get to meet awesome peeps no matter where they are...even if they are from other parts of the globe...

4. for weeks, i've been worrying some stuff about my soon to be trip next month [ah eh carla, that's in 2weeks to be exact]...thank God, i know God has been giving awesome ways for this to prosper...i just feel easily disappointed...sheesh, the impatient that i am at times-_-'

now, the e-tickets are ok...the place where i'll be staying is reserved...the financial stuff are ok as well...so i guess i have to bring out the excitement in me, that is the only thing left...

me and my family are going thru some tough times lately...some wouldn't notice that cause maybe it doesn't show on my end...but i know this is just a phase, we've been through this so many times and we've survived in ways i never imagined cause God never left us...He is always with me and my family...so despite what we're going thru at the moment, there are still reasons to be happy and excited...and as i turn another year older, 8 days from now, i just have to be like how i celebrate it every year...EXCITED!!! ^_^

It's the middle part of the year and when I look at this month on the calendar, I know there's are red mark on the 12th day...For most of us, we look at it as a mere ordinary holiday...But for those who lived 111 years ago, this was an emotional and victorious day for them being able to finally have a taste of independence...

We are fortunate, present peeps, that we did not go thru that ordeal. Fortunate, that we are just savoring the fruits of our ancestors' sacrifices. I remember years back, my grandfather -- who was a Philippine veteran of WWII -- and my grandmother would keep telling stories on how they were living and surviving during World War II. They kept saying that they just hope me and my children won't experience what they had just to get a taste of freedom...

Today, myself included, we fail sometimes to realize the essence of this very important day for all of us Filipinos. We wouldn't experience freedom if it wasn't for the people of the past who gave up everything even their own lives. I don't want to be a hypocrite and say let's get out in the streets on June 12 and participate in the events, because I for one would most likely just stay at home. What I could say though is that the way to celebrate our independence doesn't start and end on June 12. I don't think it is necessary for me to elaborate what are the ways to be nationalistic and patriotic, because the ways I'm sure are endless.

We are fortunate that now there are a lot of concerned Filipinos who share their time, talents and treasures to make a difference in our country. There are advocates and organizations where one can join and as they say, pay it forward. From the bloods and tears shed by our ancestors in the past, it is just but right that we give something back to make the Philippines a better place and Filipinos live better. Well, I guess it's high time that I should be involved too and not just a mere spectator...

During my teens, I was so pessimistic about what our country is ending up to be but I never saw it coming that years ahead positive changes can still prevail. Now, I am thankful and blessed to be living in the Pearl of the Orient -- a place where it only has two seasons, a place that has lots of beaches to go to, within a city where most foreign [old and current] acts have their concerts and enjoy their stay, a place where texting is a necessity besides food and clothes, a place where I could freely exercise my faith and my freedom...

Above all, I am fortunate for three reasons: this country gave me a heritage, a nationality and a place I can proudly call HOME...just so proud now to be Pinay =)

Happy 111th Philippine Independence Day to all of us!!! Cheers and enjoy the long weekend [for those who are working that is =)]

surviving the MRT rush hour ride...

Heavy traffic flow in Metro Manila has always been an everyday pain in the ass...But thanks to Railway Transits, commuters can arrive from one key station in Manila to another in less than an hour...Plus, it is less costly compared to travelling via taxi cab or FX vehicles...One of them is the MRT or Metro Railway Transit...It has been one of the most memorable things in my "college" life...It has been very helpful to me in going to my school and heading home...But when I started working, I wasn't riding with it that much compared before...The fact that more and more people are now commuting with that kind of transpo, I felt like it was time to give way for the rest of the Manila peeps a taste of the MRT ride...

But last night, because of my friend's persistence, she convinced me to take the challenge of the MRT rush hour ride.

And it's like I took a challenge for a reality show...why???
1. for the past years, I've been developing this fear of being in enclosed spaces -- claustrophobia in technical terms...and when I'm in a place that's too crowded, I start to feel uneasy, weak and tense...nauseated and pale-skinned...
2. I start to be lazy getting up and down the stairs of MRT stations I end up with...
3. 3 years ago, my cellphone was snatched inside the train and I only found out that it was snatched when I was in the mall to call someone...

But despite my nauseated feeling inside the train, my friend still took the liberty of taking pictures of yours truly and me taking the liberty of still posing wacky [promise,,,hirap magpanggap na ok lang ako...hehe --- English: it's not easy faking myself to look ok =)]

after 15mins [cause we did a round trip...], i finally got to my destination [Ortigas station - fronting SM Megamall]...and I must say, I SURVIVED!!!

so when is Carla's next MRT ride???...the answer: well, not in the soonest possible time...and most likely not on rush hours... =)

enjoy the ride guys and kudos to all the MRT commuters...I salute your courage, patience and perseverance =)

plain and simple as this...[the endless Katrina-Hayden scandal issue]

It's all in the local news...every single day...the endless battle between local actress, Katrina Halili and Hayden Kho and their publicized sex video...

I won't go thru the details of their retaliations cause honestly, it's starting to sicken my stomach with this issue. It's not that i don't freaking care about Katrina because sincerely, I do...I am a woman and I may have not gone thru that same ordeal but I might feel the same way as she does at the moment...What sickens me is that fact that everyday, news programs consume almost half their airing time just to discuss this ish and cut it into so many segments when they could make one story per day only...

Whereas, in the whole course of this issue, the whole point here is "NO VIDEO RECORDINGS, NO PUBLIC POSTINGS"...

Each is coming clean with this incident. In a religious point of view, sex is an act for pro-creation. But let's face it, when people would simply want to do it in this modern day and age, they can simply do that. Regardless if Katrina was paid to have sex with Hayden or not, he should not have recorded a video of their intimate act. Even if one is a well-known personality or a private individual, anybody can be a familiar face because of technology. If one wants to be talked about, it's easy nowadays.

The damage has been done. The culprit should admit his faults without any excuses and the harassed / humiliated should fight against the culprit himself without dragging others who shouldn't be and then, work on her way to surpass this one big obstacle [with faith and prayers of course =) ]

By the way, with less media abuse too...

the season finale that gave me goosebumps...

The world of reality tv shows and of music stopped for a few hours last May 20 [in the US] as American Idol Season 8 came to a close...Two gentlemen became the center of attention as they were the last men standing in the finale -- Adam Lambert, a theater artist from California and Kris Allen, a college student from Arkansas...

The finale wasn't just a highlight for the two finalists but a showcase of artists from the 70's-80's [the likes of Santana, Cyndi Lauper, Lionel Richie and Rod Stewart] and the present hitmakers [Queen Latifah, Jason Mraz and Black Eyed Peas]...

And after the two-hour presentation, there was only one Idol --- the 8th Idol --- Kris Allen...

But amidst the joyous atmosphere in that side of the U.S, there was one part of the program that gave me goosebumps and brought out my "gloomy" side...one awesome performance...and I didn't have any second thoughts of recording this one from our trusty tv to my cellphone...

David Cook sang "Permanent" in memory of his brother who died from cancer just weeks ago before he arrived here in the Philippines with David Archuleta...It was just so timely that days ago one of our choirmates passed away at a young age 'cause of brain cancer...It is really sad when someone dies but for the living, there are so many things to ponder and learn from the ones who left ahead of us...that is for us to find out and live by...

as i kept mentioning, it'll really take a while before i completely recover from this natural high i got from last saturday's concert...the moment i saw the title of this song posted on some blogsites and thru twitter.com, i did not waste a second to download the song...i definitely liked it and kept playing it over and over my player...according to some sources, this was included in his self-titled album but released in other countries [i hope i could get a copy of that album with the bonus tracks too...waaah ^_^]

i just want to share this video of the song "Zero Gravity" i recorded during the concert...and if you wonder why it ain't that steady...well, my arms were a bit tired already [cause i was recording every song David Archuleta kept singing...how's about that???...hehe...LOL =)]...and if you happen to hear someone singing along, that's me by the way...

MANILA, Philippines – Singer Martin Nievera on Monday said his version of the national anthem only reflected the “march feel" that the song originally had. Besides, Nievera said it was boxing legend Manny Pacquiao who had asked him to sing the anthem that way.

Nievera said he carefully studied not only the structure of the “Lupang Hinirang" but as well as its roots, even before deciding to sing it during Pacquiao’s winning match against British Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas last Sunday.

In his upbeat performance, Nievera – clad in a black Francis Magalona shirt and standing on the middle of the boxing ring – opened the anthem with slow and whisper-type of singing that later built up with a fast-paced beat. The song ended with a long and high note.

The singer, in an e-mail sent to GMANews.TV on Monday, said that he had been told by “people in the know" that the national anthem was originally intended to be a “march type" of song.

Nievera said this pushed him to “start [the song] slow and quiet and then march my way to the big ending."

Nievera, who was still in Las Vegas as of posting time, said his rendition was meant to evoke the feeling that previous performers of the anthem had failed to send across audience.

“Seeing others sing the anthem, I can never hear the most important words over all the screams of the fans and the boo's of the non fans. So I decided… that I would end it big and strong so I could be heard over the thousands," he said.

He said he hit a long and high note at the end of the anthem “to be able to communicate properly the [song’s last line], ‘Ang mamatay ng dahil sa ‘yo [To die for the country].’"

Nievera maintained that he only sang the anthem “with respect, pride and lots of passion for my country and my countrymen. I sang the anthem like it was the last song I would ever sing."

“I didn't make fun of it or turn it into an R&B song. I sang it straight and only adjusted the last few notes to deliver my message clearly," he added.

Nievera also said he did not want “to pale in comparison with [British icon] Tom Jones and [Filipino-American] Jasmin Villegas," who sang the British and the American national anthems, respectively.

It’s the boss’ directive

Teddy Atienza, head of the Heraldry Division of the National Historical Institute (NHI), on Monday criticized Nievera’s version, saying the crooner sang it wrong.

“Mali ang pagkanta niya… dapat sinundan niya ang nakalagay sa batas. Eh earlier sinabi niya na intention niya na ibahin niya [He sang the anthem wrong. He should have followed the original version. He had even earlier said he would make some changes to the song]," Atienza said in a radio interview.

The NHI is the government body that ensures that reverence and respect is accorded to the national anthem, the Philippine flag, and other national symbols.

If Section 37 of the Republic Act No. 8491 would be strictly observed, the national anthem must be performed in accordance with the musical arrangement of its composer Julian Felipe. Violators will have to pay a between P5, 000 and P20,000 fine or spend up to a year in prison.

Felipe – a music teacher and composer who headed the first ever national band under the administration of former President Emilio Aguinaldo – composed the anthem in 1898 to the tune of a military march.

But historians have argued that if the lyrics – separately crafted by Jose Palama in 1899 – were to be fitted into the music, the anthem’s pace would really have to be slowed down. Otherwise, the song would be hard to sing.

Atienza said the national anthem – if properly sung with a two-fourths beat and 100 metronome – should last for 53 seconds. It took Nievera one and a half minutes to sing the entire stretch of the song.

On the contrary, Nievera said everyone he had spoken to preferred a more upbeat anthem over a slowe-paced one.

“My boss, Manny Pacquiao told me, ‘basta wag yung mabagal. Gusto ko ‘yong parang march ang feel [I don’t want the song sung slowly. I want it to have a march feel],’" Nievera said.

Pacquiao personally chose Nievera to sing the national anthem for the boxer’s highly-anticipated bout with the British pugilist.

Nievera said Pacquiao and his wife Jinkee liked his version of the anthem and even “texted me on their way to Los Angeles, thanking me and saying she [Jinkee] and her seatmates had goose bumps" hearing the balladeer’s rendition.

Among the singers reprimanded by the NHI for deviating from the song’s original form were Charice Pempengco, Jennifer Bautista, and Christian Bautista, who was remembered for leaving out several lines of the anthem during a boxing match of Gerry Peñalosa.

All three singers have apologized, saying it was not their intention that some notes or lines in the song were changed or omitted.

Atienza urged the public to check the official NHI Web site (http://www.nhi.gov.ph/) for the lyrics and the manner in which the anthem should be sung.

Career highlight

Nievera said he originally planned to sing the national anthem in a cappella, but still with the same “upbeat" pace. He only decided to sing it with musical accompaniment upon the advice of his record producer Chito Ilagan. Nievera’s rendition was arranged by Bobby Velasco.

Nievera said he considered singing before Pacquiao’s match as one of the greatest milestones of his career because he sang not only for millions of people across the globe but especially for the country and his countrymen.

“It was the highlight of my career, because all my life as a singer in almost every concert I have done in the last 26 years all I keep preaching is to love your country; to make your country proud," said NIevera.

“I felt I too was in a fight for my country and that is what made it the highlight of highlights in my life so far," he added.

Nievera the victory of Pacquiao had shattered criticisms that having a male performer sing the anthem during the boxing champion’s fight would spell bad luck.

"Some ‘stupid-stitious’ were calling me a jinx or malas of Manny… but now the curse, if there ever was one, was broken when Hatton fell," Nievera said.

The singer – estranged from long-time wife Pop Fernandez – took pride in the fact that “the door has now been opened" for other male singers to be accorded the same honor given to him by Pacquiao.

But while he was praised by the Pacman for belting the anthem, Martin admitted he tried but was unable to share a toast and join the boxing champion in the victory party staged after the historic fight.

“As I got there [to the venue], I was swarmed by the fans who had been partying the whole day and night. So you can almost imagine how hard it was for me to get from point A to point B. We caused such a scene that I had to find some way to escape, got my car and went home," he said.

Nievera said he could no longer wait to once more sing karaoke with Pacquiao, liked they used to do before.

Seal

But Nievera’s performance was not the only thing that received a beating from the NHI. Atienza also assailed the unauthorized flashing of the NHI’s seal after the singer’s performance.

The flashing of the seal indicated that Martin’s rendition was approved by the NHI, a thing that the NHI said it did not do.

“We are now undertaking the pertinent moves, like consulting the advertising board, to determine who was responsible for flashing the NHI seal," Atienza said, noting that Nievera’s singing of the anthem was sponsored by the Philippine Airlines (PAL).

The NHI said that the correct rendition was the one sung by Karylle Tatlonghari during the People’s Champ fight against Oscar de la Hoya in December 2008. - GMANews.TV

in my opinion, it is just right that we have to sing the national anthem properly, in its correct beat and tone based on the composition...i have nothing against both parties because again in my opinion Martin Nievera sang it well...and i do understand the sentiments of the National Historical Institute cause in the future some singers might do the same mistake...but then again, if he made a mistake on the rendition, they should have reprimanded the roster of singers who also sang during Pacquiao's fights long ago or even those who just sing them for certain national events. at the end of all this discussions, it's just about time we teach the public once again the correct rendition...

since the start of american idol season 8, i've had two bets to make it to top12...one of them was this indian-american guy from chapel hill, north carolina who made a twist in the show's history to bring them to top 13...

from his audition in shorts and slippers up to his elimination last night and getting to top 6, he was one of those who swept me with his cool, amazing voice and his colorful personality...

i sincerely felt sad that he hasn't gone far to the finals...but then again, as what david archuleta said on his guesting in american idol last nyt, there is still life after idol with even greater opportunities in store...and i hope this guy would have that life after idol, eventually with his own album soon...

well we all know that valentine's day simply passed by just this weekend...and everyone seemed to be busy outdoors or in their couches at home to pass the time...

sunday...the day after valentine's...i was on next book assignment...so i headed to one of my favorite spots at the moment [thank God it's 15mins away from home...]

and after i bought a book and a dvd [which i'll soon care to post^_^]...i headed for my own sweet deal, at the only place i'll keep coming back at Boni High Street / Serendra area... Cupcakes by Sonja and had this very light treat^_^

a month ago, we were able to watch "sleepless in seattle" on tv and since then, my mom has been raving on a particularly movie which was somewhat similar to it...

last night, she went home from a gathering and finally, she found that movie. incidentally, her orgmate in church lent her this dvd...

my mom kept saying that this film "an affair to remember" is somewhat similar to "sleepless in seattle" especially the fact that both movies had a scene where the lead stars were suppose to meet up at the Empire State Building...

in last sunday's paper, i saw this recent event at rockwell, wherein for the entire week, they'll be showing movies from one of my favorite personalities from the past, audrey hepburn...even if i'm not so much familiarized of this prominent actress since the 60's, i felt this connection with her by just looking at her pictures which started during my college days...and if i would have the chance over the weekend, i might be able to watch "roman holiday"....oooohhhh i do hope^_^

sometimes, it's really good that we look back of some good things that the past has to offer to us, given the chances to do so...well, i guess that means i'll really have to catch up on a lot of reading and watching...hmmm^_^

after more than a week of getting busy and bum [mixed altogether^_^], i finally got to feel that it's definitely a new year already...

the cool atmosphere we're having since december is starting to drive me nuts...we might only be ranging from a lows of 20-23, still my body can't tolerate at times. wearing a jacket is the "in" thing at the moment, but thanks to my baby tees and sleeveless tops, the warmth can't be felt...SERIOUSLY!!!...i just pray that this wouldn't lead me to fevers [fingers crossed^_^]

well, what am i up to at the moment???...hmmm...

i had a pre-occupied saturday as a guest for the Himig ng Pasko 2008 Grand Finals, which was held at Star Theater, Pasay City...

the finalists were good...but of course, hats off to my fellow choirmates...Music and Praise Chorale...and our kiddie counterparts, Pasig Catholic College Children's Choir...

Pasig Catholic College won 3rd place...

Music and Praise Chorale won 2nd place with a whopping Php50,000...wuhoo!!!

despite the agony of commuting caused by the "Anti-Chacha" Rally, no human barriers could have stopped us to celebrate my dad's 50-something bday yesterday @ North Park, Market Market Branch...

and without wasting time, we headed home after dinner and a walk at Boni High Street to watch the Survivor Philippines - Finale...at for blogger-fanatics, no wonder who won last night with 3 million pesos...

well...yes...it was him...the rumors on the internet were true enough...some people are just covering up the real deal...

oh well...LESSON OF THE STORY: Winners should really be kept safe until the real score comes out...In layman's term, keep the secret until time requires it to do so...So that reality shows will provide excitement till the end and not by saying "ah ok...sya nga tlga ang nanalo"...

3 days ago, December 7, was a very memorable day in history in the field of sports and local showbiz...

in triumph...

past 12:00 noon, over the AM radio, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao won by technical knockout against a boxing legend, Oscar "Golden Boy" De La Joya at Las Vegas, Nevada, USA...it may not have been an easy fight but at the start of the game, it was pretty obvious Pacquiao would win the bout...he wasn't just able to add a laurel for Filipinos to look forward of being proud for something, but he made the country unite even just for a day...

he ain't just an athlete and a celebrity now, but he's bound to be a legend soon enough...

in sorrow...

that very same day, Dec 7, Starstruck Batch 3 Winner, Marky Cielo was found dead in his residence in Antipolo...his death still remains a mystery...but definitely, a loss in the showbiz industry at his tender age of 20...

there are a lot of speculations, whatever those maybe, i just hope he finally rests in peace...

** in triumph, there are so many reasons to be proudly Pinay, but then again, we shouldn't just be settled as spectators, but as active participants in making our country a better place to live in, especially in these trying times...

Twelve chorales will compete in Manila Broadcasting Company’s Himig ng Pasko chorale competition (Open category) at the Star Theater, MBC Bldg., Star City, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.Vying for the championship are the 8th of December, University of Makati Chorale, and Coro de San Gabriel on Dec. 9; Music and Praise Chorale, Musicainta, and Genesis Choir on Dec. 10; Letran Choral Guild, Sandiwa Chorale, and the DILG Voice Group on Dec. 11; and Kammerchor, Coro de Manila, and OMPHP Youth Ensemble on Dec. 12. The four nightly winners will then compete during the grand finals on Dec. 13.

Conducted by Christopher Borela, the 8th of December is comprised of students and professionals. The choir has served the
Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish in West Triangle and the Lady of Pentecost Parish near Katipunan Ave., QC.Since its inception in 2003, the University of Makati Chorale has been propelled by a mission to respond to the cultural aspirations of Makati as its official ambassadors of goodwill. It is currently under the baton of Elsie Eranista.Coro de San Gabriel, conducted by Ronnel Calabon, is composed of award-winning soloists from six different barangays under the parish of San Gabriel the Archangel in San Pablo, Laguna.

The Letran Chorale, Instrumentalists, and Artists Guild was formed in 2005 by Adrian Bagayaua. The Sandiwa Chorale is composed of former students from theCentral Colleges of the Philippines, who continue to sing with each other as a community glee club. It is under the stewardship of Emerald Hope Evangelista.The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Voice Group was organized eight years ago when the committee chairperson of the EDSA People Power celebration invited all national government agencies to participate in One Thousand Voices. Kammerchor Manila was formed in 1992 by alumni of the renowned UST Singers. The choir served at the Shrine of Mary,

i'm a self-confessed "TIME" freak...i feel so bare without a watch every time i leave from home, even if it's just running an errand within the neighborhood...and since it's Christmas season, i realized i needed a gift for myself...

true enough...after a month of anticipation...

november 16, 2008...the excitement was at its highest the moment i woke up that Sunday morning...me and my officemates met up at 4:00pm for an early dinner at conti's serendra [na i must say na bukod sa pila ang pagpasok sa resto...medyo slow ang service ng food na sumaktong 6pm kame nakalabas at ngpunta sa concert venue...-_-']

and at exactly 8:00pm [no Filipino time]...the concert started...it ended around 11:30pm...imagine, we stood there for 4 hours in the Silver area...dedma na ang sweats and smells ng mga katabi...dedma ang mga nagkikiss na lovers sa paligid as if the venue was a lover's lane...dedma na ang leg pains and the thirst just to prevent losing your space...dedma na mawalan ng boses singing to every chris brown and rihanna hit song that the two sang...

Christmas is just a month and days away...but due to the global financial crisis, i haven't seen Christmas lights in the streets at night...some establishments don't have Christmas decos yet [even our house doesn't have yet --- we put them during Advent season^_^]...but last Nov. 4 [tuesday], i started to feel like it somehow when me and my officemate went down to have breakfast and saw this...

This signals my "caffeine addiction" to be at its active stage^_^...I'm pretty sure those who know me won't stop teasing me about this...but we just noticed a few from this latest Starbucks perk...

1. there are only 16 stickers to fill up...["financial crisis daw" --- accdg to a barista^_^ --- ehem this is so true]

2. the planner comes in 3 different colors -- red, blue, black [kaso lang...mukha na syang diary at ndi na leather ang cover...how sad -_-,]

well...obviously, the whole world suffers from this so-called GFC [global financial crisis --- nahahabaan nako...hehe]

even Starbucks...

what's it like travelling first time, out of the country for free????...my answer: HIGHNESS!!!!^_^

finally, after a month of anticipation and boredom, i really felt my prize...a supposed Shanghai trip ended in Kuala Lumpur...well, not bad...really...the fact i didn't spend a single centavo from my savings for that trip...the kuripot that i was, pinilit magkasya ang pocket money...wahaha...

regardless of some unexpected bad stuff, positive thinking lang ang lola and enjoyed to the max!!!!...just stayed for four days [certainly bitin-_-'...but dedma pa den^_^]

upon our arrival, i was amazed at KL's international airport, which is considered to be the world's best airport...why??? 1. 5 stories with boutiques and food shops [yummm^_^] 2. aerotrain - just to get your baggage [sosyal di ba?] 3. walkalator - pag tinatamad ka nang maglakad sa laki ng airport nila...haha

KL has similarities with the sosyal streets in Manila, except of the ff:

1. Kuala Lumpur has less "busy" traffic hours

2. NO SMOKE BELCHERS

3. their malls are like the ones we've got in Eastwood City, Libis [mall on the first few floors then hotels in the upper floors]

4. more Muslim-looking establishments

5. so many Indian peeps [we were there just in time for their Deepavali festival celeb...]

oh and did I fail to say that the atmosphere has a different kinda, sort of a spicy, curry smell in the air [OOPSSS...SORRY...I DIDN'T FORGET^_^]

overall, me and my mom enjoyed the trip...finally after 2 years, my passport got stamps already...wuuuhhhooo...and as my officemates said, "naumpisahan na yan...sunud sunod na yan"...ehem...i'll keep that in mind and i'll work on it^_^
